Sebastião Lancastre CEO easypay

easypay Spanish shareholder will bolster international payments

Spanish fund manager Fidentiis Gestión is easypay’s new shareholder. With a stake of less than 10%, the deal will speed up our move into the international payments market.

“We have had some proposals in recent years and we chose the one that we thought made the most sense in the internationalization strategy,” he said, considering that the fund manager complements easypay’s business.

Fidentiis Gestión knows the Spanish market well. The fund manager’s large contact book will also open up opportunities, especially after the PSD2 payments directive comes into force.

This deal is crucial to support easypay’s growth, of around 40% in payment processing volume last year. With Fidentiis Gestión, easypay will enter the Spanish market with our very own property marketplace solutions, to serve ‘online’ aggregator of merchants, like Amazon.

But the focus on international payments doesn’t mean easypay will stop chasing business at home. Just recently, easypay won a new contract with Portugal’s Social Security administration. Over the course of three years, under this new contract, easypay will manage over 1.4 billion euros.
